---- — DANVILLE — Two physicians with the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department of Christie Clinic will discuss robotic surgical options for women’s health issues at a free event, “Let’s Talk, Ladies” on Tuesday at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

Several OB/GYNs on the medical staff at Presence United Samaritans are now performing robotic-assisted procedures for hysterectomies, ovarian cyst removal, and endometriosis, according to a Presence press release. The medical center is one of several Presence Health hospitals to recently acquire the latest da Vinci Si robotic surgical system.

Terence Young, MD, will discuss robotic-assisted hysterectomies available in Danville. Michael Smith, MD, will discuss robotic-assisted prolapse surgery and single-site hysterectomy available at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Smith is one of only a handful of surgeons in the country to perform this virtually scarless procedure, and is the area’s most experienced robotic surgeon.

Robotic-assisted surgery offers many patient benefits compared to traditional surgery including shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery, significantly less pain, and smaller scars, according to the release. The robotic system provides surgeons with unparalleled precision, dexterity and control for better outcomes.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. in Conference Rooms 2 and 3 on the Ground Level of the Medical Center. Refreshments and prizes are included. Admission is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Participants can register by calling (877) 737-4636.
