---- — INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives in Indianapolis have arrested a suspect in a recent Danville murder.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit issued a press release Tuesday to announce the arrest of a man in connection with a murder in Danville.

The suspect — Dujuan Alexander, 30, of Indianapolis — was taken into custody during an afternoon traffic stop. He was taken to the Arrestee Processing Center to be held while awaiting extradition proceedings, according to the release.

Danville Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason confirmed Tuesday night the arrest was made in connection with the shooting death of Demaree D. Tetter, 25, of Danville, early Sunday morning in the 700 block of North Vermilion Street.

According to Thomason, a warrant was issued Monday evening for Alexander, charging him with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

Alexander is being held without bond in the case.

Officers responding around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a bar fight at Club Deuce, 625 N. Vermilion St., found Tetter and another man suffering from gunshot wounds in the area behind the business. Tetter was pronounced dead 40 minutes later at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center.

As of Monday, Danville police detectives were continuing to conduct interviews and track down leads in connection with the case. It is estimated that as many as 200 people were in and around the tavern at the time of the shooting.

The shooting is the second homicide in the month of March in Vermilion County and the first of the year inside the City of Danville.
