YWCA sponsors classes

DANVILLE — The YWCA at Your Family Resource Center, 201 N. Hazel, is offering aerobic/toning kickboxing classes from 5:45pm-6:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9-10 a.m. Saturdays.

Instructor is Lorri Maser. Price: $5 per class. Workout also includes hand weights and

The center also offers cardio burn classes Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings (time to be determined.) Instructor: Glenda Brooks. Price: $5 per class.

School plans roundtable

Danville High School is currently applying for a School Improvement Grant that if received would give DHS $2 million per year over a three-year period to implement a transformation plan. The plan will be bold, targeted and focused on significantly increasing student achievement. DHS is looking for input from all stakeholders.

The school will host a Viking Roundtable meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Little Theater, room 230 on the second floor. The meeting is open to any parent or community member.

Soccer fundraiser set

The Danville High School girls soccer team plans a fundraiser Wednesday with help from Papa Murphy’s, 3100 N. Vermilion St.

Customers who mention the DHS girls soccer team when ordering any regularly priced food item from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. will have 20 percent of the purchase donated to the team.

Film for teens Thursday

The Danville Public Library will present an after-school film for teens, ages 12-18 at 4 p.m. Thursday in the first floor meeting room.

“Dark Shadows,” a Tim Burton film, is about vampire Barnabas Collins who returns home to help his dysfunctional descendants. The 2012 film stars Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer. The film is rated PG-13.

Twelve-year-olds will need signed parental consent to attend.

Buck to sign books

Bryant “Charlie” Buck of Freeport will sign copies of his books, “My First Christian ABC Book” and “The Prayer Warrior” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Five Loaves and Two Fish Book Cottage, 717 N. Gilbert St.
