Police probe second armed robbery

DANVILLE — Danville Police are investigating an armed robbery involving a pizza delivery driver — the second this week.

Sgt. Joshua Campbell said two young men approached a driver with Domino’s Pizza about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Franklin Street.

One of the youths displayed a handgun, but the driver was able to grab it and take it away. He then struck the suspect with the gun, and the youths took off in an unknown direction.

No shots were fired, and the suspects did not get any money, Campbell said.

Like a robbery earlier this week, the suspects did not live at the residence.

Campbell described them as black males, about 6 feet tall, and around 150 pounds. They were wearing dark clothing and material over their faces.

Campbell couldn’t say if the robbery was related to the one earlier this week.

About 7:45 p.m. Monday, three teens approached a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver in the 900 block of Blueridge in Holiday Hills. One teen displayed a handgun and demanded the driver’s money, as well as the pizzas.

The three fled on foot south from the scene and, as they were running away, Campbell said, a shot was fired. No one was injured.

The residents at the home were unaware of the delivery order or the incident.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call the Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
