DANVILLE — The 2013 Festival of Trees is only a few months away, and plans are in full swing. A Designer Workshop will kick off preparations Sept. 7, with a new venue — Prairie Gardens in Champaign.
“We’ve heard for some time that our designers would like to have easier access to ideas and supplies for their creations,” said Angie Lazzell, development specialist for Presence United Samaritans Medical Center’s Foundation and event coordinator, in a press release. “Prairie Gardens is a perfect place to have demonstrations and to shop all in one spot.”
Past designers and any individuals interested in becoming a designer of a tree or wreath at this year’s event are invited to attend the workshop. Experts will share the latest trends and techniques for holiday decorating and provide helpful ideas and advice for themes and designs. Breakfast and snacks will be provided, as well as a bus from Danville to Champaign.
The bus will leave David S. Palmer Arena at 9 a.m. that day and the event will start at 10 a.m. at Prairie Gardens. Seats are limited and registration is required. To reserve a spot, designers can call Angie Lazzell at 217.442.6803 or Karen Luse at 217.442.6586 no later than Friday.
“Wishes Come True” is the theme for this year’s event, the 17th annual Festival of Trees, presented by Presence United Samaritans Medical Center’s Foundation, at Palmer arena Nov. 16 -21.
