The Danville Area Community College Ag Club plans special events for Ag Day 2013 on Thursday with the support of area agricultural organizations, businesses and individuals.
The event will run 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the DACC campus.
A special feature of the day is a barbecue luncheon that will be served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Mary Miller Gym. Carry-out lunches are not available. The luncheon will consist of a pork barbecue sandwich, applesauce, baked beans, potato chips, and milk or Pepsi and will be served for 50 cents, the price the farmer usually receives for these products after producing and selling them! Additional donations are gladly accepted. The lunch is served by the DACC Ag Club, DACC students and staff, and local FFA chapters.
Other items of interest during the day include two barnyard petting zoos, pedal tractor pulls for the children, tractors and farm equipment displays, and a tour through the DACC Greenhouse.
Schools bringing classes to the petting zoos and activities should call 443-8768 to make reservations.
Local FFA Chapters, DACC, local ag businesses and community organizations will have exhibits.
There is no cost except for the farmers’ price luncheon.
