A fire at 518 N. Franklin St. caused about $250 damage Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters found old tires and a mattress burning in a garage.
Police responded to the following calls:
Friday:
Female arrested in connection with a domestic battery incident and charged with violation of probation in the 2300 block of North Vermilion Street. A male was arrested and charged with battery and theft.
Thursday:
Theft of $10 in gas reported at Super Pantry, 1212 N. Bowman Ave.
Multiple items reported taken and broken from a residence in the 400 block of Washington Street.
Theft of a purse from an automobile reported in the 400 block of South Street.
Theft of $20 in gas reported at Super Pantry, 610 S. Bowman Ave.
Theft of $10.03 in gas reported at the Mobil Super Pantry, 610 S. Bowman Ave.
Burglary to a vehicle reported in the 200 block of Grace Street.
Criminal damage reported at the Village Mall, 2917 N. Vermilion St.
Domestic battery reported in the 300 block of Spelter Avenue.
Wednesday:
Mailbox reported damaged on 3797 North Road in rural Hoopeston.
Garden tools reported taken from the 100 block of South Chicago Street in Bismarck.
Theft of/lost/mislaid checkbook reported at CVS, 820 N. Vermilion St.
Tuesday:
Attempted burglary reported in the 400 block of East Williams Street.
Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:
Tuesday, 12:51 p.m. — At North Gilbert and West Woodbury streets involving Michael R. Mathews, 18, of the 100 block of East Davis Street, and Sharon Bell, 32, of Charleston. Mathews was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle, driving with a suspended license and failure to yield at an intersection.
Wednesday, 1 a.m. — At Denmark and West Newell roads involving Chad A. Ray, 36, of Short Road. He reportedly struck and damaged a mailbox and post and went into a ditch/ravine. He was ticketed for failure to reduce speed and failure to report the accident to police.
Wednesday, 1:30 a.m. — At Demark Road and 2300 North Road involving Erich W. Gerbsch, 47, of Cicero, Ind. He reportedly went into a ditch and struck a tree. He was ticketed for failure to report the accident to police and failure to reduce speed.
Wednesday, 1:23 p.m. — At Gilbert and Williams streets involving Amanda N. Wilkins, 21, of Fairmount, and Keith A. Hooker, 48, of Sidell. Wilkins was ticketed for failure to reduce speed.
Wednesday, 5:24 a.m. — At 2222 Denmark Road involving Tomas F. Loera, 34, of the 1200 block of North Logan Avenue, and a parked vehicle registered to Richard Youmans of Kingman, Ind. Loera reportedly struck the parked vehicle, a tree and utility pole. He reportedly received minor injuries. Loera was ticketed for failure to reduce speed.

Thursday, 7:06-7:18 a.m. — Medical call in the 1000 block of Grove Street.
Thursday, 10:31-10:47 a.m. — Odor investigation at 810 Sherman St.
Thursday, 6:35-6:51 p.m. — Medical call in the 1200 block of Garden Drive.
Thursday, 11:11-11:23 p.m. — Lift assist in the 1600 block of Glenview Avenue.
Friday, 1:14-1:32 a.m. — Medical call in the unit block of Morin Street.
