TILTON A local man sentenced for a 2008 Danville bank robbery was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in connection with the robbery of an Indiana bank.

The man, Frank Sutton, 23, of Tilton, was taken into custody by Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department investigators just before 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at an address in the 1800 block of Jefferson Street in Tilton.

Indiana State Police in Lafayette, Ind., have not released the identity of the suspect in the robbery.

According to state police, the Old National Bank branch in Hillsboro, Ind., was robbed by a man around 1 p.m. EST on Tuesday. The man handed a teller a note demanding money and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank.

No weapon was displayed during the robbery.

The suspect, described as a white man about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, then fled the bank and drove away in a silver 2007 Chevrolet Coup with Illinois license plates.

Danville and Vermilion County law enforcement were alerted to the robbery minutes after the incident, including the license plate of the car which checked to an address in Tilton.

Assisting in the investigation are the Fountain County, Ind., Sheriff’s Department and the Attica, Ind., Police Department.

Sutton was released from the Illinois Department of Corrections in late August and on parole after serving a prison term for the robbery of the Old National Bank branch at 2431 N. Vermilion St. in February 2008. He turned himself into Danville police less than a day after the robbery.

Sutton was saddled with a $2,400 restitution charge for the 2008 Danville bank robbery, which court records indicate has not been paid on. The charge stemmed from the cash taken from the bank, which was never recovered. Sutton testified in court that he spent the money on drugs.
