ROUNDUP: Woman hurt in wreck

A cell phone call put a Vermilion County woman in the hospital.

Sandra Jeffers, 58, of Fithian was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:30 p.m. Monday along U.S. Route 150 near County Road 680E.

A spokeswoman for Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana said Jeffers was listed in fair condition this morning as a result of the crash. She was transferred from Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.

According to the accident report from the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, Jeffers was drving north on U.S. Route 150 when she reached across to answer her ringing cell phone.

She lost control of the van she was driving, which swerved off the road to the right before leaving the roadway to the left and overturned in a cornfield.

No citations were issued as a result of the accident.

A woman arrested for disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Robinson Street.

A volt meter and change stolen in a burglary in the 1100 block of North Vermilion Street.

Deceptive practices reported along County Road 2400N, Bismarck.

Tuesday:

A 1992 Cadillac stolen in the 100 block of West West Street, Georgetown.

A man arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver at Bowman Avenue and Griggs Street.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

Monday, 8 a.m. — At Perrysville Road and Griffin Street involving a trailer being towed by John Kane, 63, of Perrysville, Ind.; Sharon Clark, 48, of Danville, and Marla Diel, 57, of Danville. Kane was cited for no safety chains on the hitch.

Monday, 8:07 a.m. — On Bowman Avenue near Griggs Street involving Shannon Driver, 22, of the 1200 block of Sheridan Street, and Paul Ofutt, 58, of Danville. Driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Monday, 3:33 p.m. — On County Road 2750N near Crystal Lane in Newell Township involving Jordan Arford, 16, of rural Danville, and Bonita Batemsteiner, 59, of rural Danville. Arford was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
