County to vote on elevator repair

STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News

DANVILLE Vermilion County Board members will vote on an emergency ordinance at Tuesday’s meeting.

County Board Chairman Jim McMahon said the ordinance — which calls for the spending of $75,000 — deals with necessary repairs for the elevator in the four-story courthouse annex.

Because of problems with the elevator, McMahon said the location of Tuesday’s county board meeting will be moved. A location was not immediately known on Friday and was expected to be released Monday.

Money for the repairs will be taken from the county’s capital improvements fund.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, board members will vote on accepting a $400,000 grant from the state of Illinois for work on Allerton-Sidell Road.

McMahon said the grant money, once received, will come from the state’s Build Illinois funds. The stretch of road was accepted by the county several years ago.
