Positions set in primary ballot

STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News

DANVILLE The positions are set for County Board District 3 on the February primary ballot.

The Vermilion County Clerk’s Office held a lottery on Thursday for the two county board candidates — David Stone of Catlin and Steve Fourez of Fairmount — that submitted petitions at the same time on the first day of filing.

County Clerk Lynn Foster said the candidates drew numbers to determine who would be listed first on the ballot for the primary election. Fourez, an incumbent, received the first slot on the ballot. A third candidate who filed later will be listed third on the ballot.

Two seats are available in the district, making the race uncontested in the primary.

Five candidates are up for two seats in County Board District 5.

The primary election is set for Feb. 2.

Foster said sometime after the primary election the county clerk’s office will conduct a lottery to determine political party placement on the ballot for the general election. That election is slated for Nov. 5.
