County board seats garner interest

STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News

DANVILLE Seats on the county board are getting the most attention from local residents this week.

Two people from Vermilion County – Steve Green of Danville and John Criswell of Tilton – filed election petitions with the county clerk’s office on Wednesday, the only filings for the day.

Green and Criswell are both newcomers to the county board race. Green, a Republican, is seeking a seat in District 7 while Criswell, a Democrat, is eyeing a seat in District 5.

The men join two other candidates who filed on Tuesday, making it a total of 11 people – both newcomers and incumbents – who filed for county board seats thus far.

The race for the county’s supervisor of assessments office remains vacant, with no petitions filed by candidates for either party.

No Democrats have filed for the 104th District state representative seat or the state senate seat in the 52nd District.
