The village board approved two additional changeorders for the roofing work on the village-owned buildings downtown Monday night.
The first order involved an additional payment of $8,000 to the roofing contractor, Five Star Commercial Roofing of Fort Wayne, Ind., for additional roofing material for 114-116-118 Attica St. The contractor inadvertently tore off more roof than was called for in the bid and the entire roof had to be replaced.
The second changeorder, also for Five Star Roofing, was for $3,700 to replace the roof on an addition to 116 Attica St. The village originally had planned to demolish the addition but discovered there was a basement under the addition. The village decided that replacing the roof on the addition was a cheaper alternative than tearing off the addition and filling in the basement area.
Also on Monday night, the board approved an agreement with the Rossville Historical Society to allow the society to use a portion of the old Rossville Fire Station building that the village recently purchased. The agreement is for ten years.
In other action, trustees:
ƒÞ Approved the dispersal of excess funds from the Tax Increment Financing account. The surplus funds, which total $123,000, will be distributed to the approximately 12 taxing districts that are affected by the TIF district. The largest recipients will be the Rossville-Alvin School District, which will receive $66,000, and Vermilion County, which will receive $18,000. The funds will be distributed to affected districts in late November.
ƒÞ Will seek a 30 day extension of the current contract with ERH Enterprises, operator of the sewage treatment plant. The board wants for time to study the proposed renewal of ERH¡¦s current contract with the village. ERH is proposing a five-year agreement at $72,000 a year. The village is currently nearing the end of its current five-year contract with ERH.
ƒÞ Learned from Mayor Terry Prillaman that ConAgra has agreed to provide $2,000 for qualified employees that wish to build new homes in the Thomas subdivision in Rossville. The subdivision is being developed for low to moderate income families through a partnership with the Illinois Community Action Program, the East Central Illinois Community Action Program and the Illinois Housing Association.
ƒÞ Approved entering into an agreement with JBS United to install 1,000 feet of storm drain tile along the east side of the railroad tracks for $25,000.
ƒÞ Approved a resolution to allow the Halloween parade at 10 a.m. Saturday. The parade route will be from the post office on Maple Street down Chicago Street to the former high school.
ƒÞ Accepted the lone bid of $2,561 from DC Sales of Olney for the used 2004 Dodge Intrepid police car.
ƒÞ Approved a recommendation from the zoning board to allow Judy Rayfield of 403 N. Chicago St. to operate a beauty salon in her garage under a special use permit.
ƒÞ Approved an ordinance changing the court cost fees for village ordinance violations from $60 to $105. The increase was due to higher court fees.
ƒÞ Hired Brian Norton as a part-time police officer. Norton will attend the Police Institute Training part-time beginning in December.
ƒÞ Set trick or treat hours for 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 31 only at houses with porch lights on.
ƒÞ Tabled a vote on a proposed golf cart ordinance.

The Rossville Village Board will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Rossville Municipal Building.
