Two die in Saturday crash

DANVILLE — Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson identified a Georgetown couple who died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night southwest of Fithian.

Jennifer Allen, 28, and Robert “Robbie” Allen, 35, of Georgetown died after the 5:50 p.m. crash.

In a press release, Johnson said Jennifer Allen was driving the Allens’ car on Lincoln Trail Road east of 200 East Road when she lost control in loose gravel. The car fishtailed on the narrow gravel road, according to Johnson. A fully loaded grain truck struck the passenger side of the Allens’ car.

No autopsies will be performed, according to Johnson, although toxicology tests are pending.

Johnson did not identify the driver of the grain truck.

The accidents remains under investigation by the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office.
