Catlin OKs ditch work south of town

CATLIN — In Tuesday’s meeting, Commissioner Jim Miller discussed with the board problems with water drainage in the south end of town.

“We want to clear water off property owners’ drainage so it will go where it should go,” Miller said. “ It will be a fairly easy to repair.”

Miller recommended the D.L. Obenland & Sons as the most reasonable bid of $5,850. A motion was made and carried.

In other business:

Commissioner Thomas Taylor reported to the board about two building permits, a chain link fence at 126 Mapleleaf Dr. and a new roof at 504 Sandusky St. Both passed.

Taylor reported that the Christmas lighting is a “go” for 6 p.m. Nov. 30. A private donor has offered to plant a permanent tree in front of village hall or in that area for the event.

“We are very excited and ready to roll,” Taylor said.

A motion was passed to pay the Daniel Ribbe Company, a final payment of $33,504.30 for the tar and chipping of the roads.

Miller discussed with board about a new 500-gallon gas tank instillation for the village. Mayor Clayton Woodard agreed with Miller on the need for a separate tank from the fire department. Estimates will be brought to the next meeting.

Commissioner Dave Biggerstaff discussed the water ordinance, including tap fees and fees for non-sufficient funds. More information will be brought to the next meeting.

Trick or Treat Hours will be 4-8 p.nm. Oct. 31.
