Sarah's Fine Furniture opens its doors

— Sarah’s Fine Furniture opened in downtown West Lebanon, Ind., just in time for last weekend’s Patriot Festival.
“The opportunity was here,” said Sarah Cole, owner. “This always has been a furniture store.”
Ron and Dorothy Hurt operated R&D Furniture at that location for many years. After Ron Hurt’s death, Tim Roemer of Attica, Ind., owned the store, but he decided to concentrate on his carpet business in Attica.
Cole has been pleased with the traffic in and out of her store.
She carries United, Lane, Vaughan Bassett and American Wholesale furniture to name a few. She has several catalogs that customers may browse. She will be happy to order custom items for customers. Delivery is available.
“I want to stay in the medium price range,” she said. “We are not trying to compete (with the bigger stores). I want to keep the price range for our area communities.”
Cole admits the business is a learning experience for her.
Originally from West Lebanon, she graduated from Seeger Memorial High School and moved away for 35 years.
She is happy to be home, and the community is happy to have her back.
“I think she has excellent taste,” said Donna Sullivan, who was browsing the store recently. “Sarah is a very unique person. There are some very unique pieces here.”
Cole hopes to make the store a little cozier by adding some rugs in some display areas, but right now she has a large assortment of recliners, bedroom suites, tables and accessories.
“If you can display it, it makes it look like something you want,” she said. “I want to add some warm touches.”
She is looking forward to showing customers the store’s items.
“I think the price is right,” she said. “We have all kinds of different styles. I think they will find something they are pleased with.”
