STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News
A Danville driver was arrested after he rear-ended a local ambulance early Wednesday morning.
Jairo Ocampo, 19, of the 100 block of North Logan Avenue, was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI as well as driving after suspension and a Vermilion County warrant and taken to the Public Safety Building jail.
Ocampo is accused of colliding with the rear of a Medix ambulance at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of North Logan Avenue.
According to police reports, Medix driver Brian Schull, 26, of Danville, was driving the ambulance southbound and slowly crossing a set of railroad tracks when he was rear-ended by a red Mercury, which then drove away from the accident.
Schull said he followed the Mercury, which drove to a residence in the 100 block of North Logan Avenue.
Reports indicate Schull was with an 81-year-old patient and another medic — John High Jr. of Danville — at the time of the collision. Neither was injured as a result of the accident.
Schull was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center for treatment where he was treated and released.
