Catlin board looks ahead at finances

CATLIN — School board members continue to worry and discuss the same tight money situation as other Vermilion County schools.

Board members decided Thursday to begin to prepare the school for the "worst case scenario" for next year’s budget. They are waiting for the state to step in and do something before all the stimulus money is gone.

Also Thursday, board members:

-- Heard there have been no cases of H1N1 flu at any of the schools, contrary to a popular rumor.

-- Learned Tom O’Shaughnessy has offered to be a community member on the policy committee.

-- Learned the schools have taken an extra step in cleaning since flu season is around the corner and with the threat of the H1N1 virus.

-- Heard that the VVEDS program reported an increase in students enrolling in the program, especially with the junior class.
