STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News

MELLOTT, Ind. A Fountain County sheriff’s deputy is OK after rolling the SUV he was driving Tuesday night.

Deputy Terry Holt, 34, of Kingman, was airlifted from the scene of the accident on County Road 300N just west of County Road 500E, near Mellott. Holt was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he was treated and released.

According to the Indiana State Police in Lafayette, Holt was headed west in the sheriff department’s Ford Expedition when he left the road and hit a concrete culvert.

The vehicle continued through the ditch, state police indicate, hitting a light pole and rolling several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side. Holt was able to call for assistance from his portable radio on his gun belt.

Reports indicate the vehicle’s emergency lights and sirens were not in use at the time. The vehicle is considered a total loss.
