Coroner names fatal crash victim

DANVILLE — The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office released the name of driver in a fatal crash Monday morning.

Coroner Peggy Johnson identified the man as James C. Frost, 79, of Georgetown. The release of his identity had been delayed pending the notification of family members.

Frost was involved in a head-on collision in the westbound lanes of Interstate 74 late Monday morning between the Bowman Avenue and Gilbert Street exits.

According to emergency personnel, Frost was driving his blue pickup truck east in the westbound lanes when he collided with an oncoming semi-tractor trailer. Frost was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
