Geo-RF names top scholars

STAFF REPORT

GEORGETOWN Rachel Everingham, Kaloni Neubert, Kaitlin Smith and Trisha Thornton were co-valedictorians of the class of 2008 of Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School. Emily Briggs was salutatorian.

Everingham, the daughter of Terry and Susan Everingham, was secretary of the student senate and a member of National Honor Society and Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering team.

She participated in volleyball, basketball and softball.

She will attend Central College in Pella, Iowa, majoring in pre-physical therapy and playing soccer and softball.

Neubert, the daughter of Tonya Neubert and the late Chris Neubert, was treasurer of the senior class, the National Honor Society and the student senate. She was a member of the Spanish Club.

She is a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She will attend the Art Institute of Indianapolis, majoring in digital photography.

Smith, the daughter of Dennis and Annette Smith, was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, a tutor for after school and summer school Project Success and cheerleading.

She is a member of the Olivet Church of the Nazarene youth group.

She will attend Olivet Nazarene University, majoring in elementary education with a minor in business.

Thornton, the daughter of Randy and Shelly Thornton, was editor of the newspaper and captain of the color guard. She was a member of the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering team, Destination Imagination, National Honor Society, band, scholastic bowl and a tutor for Project Success.

She participated in track.

She will attend the University of Illinois, majoring in biology/premedicine.

Briggs, the daughter of David and Cheryl Briggs, was secretary of the senior class and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering team, and band.

She participated in volleyball and softball.

She is a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown.

She will attend Illinois State University, majoring in nursing.
