Tuesday night’s meeting of the Bismarck Village Board started with the swearing in of re-elected trustees. Julie Boersma, Lee High and Dwayne Gettleman were sworn in for four-year terms and Karol Volpert was sworn in for a two-year term. Charles Mockbee, village attorney, administered the oath of office.
The village board approved a supplemental 2009 Motor Fuel Tax budget as presented by Ellen Hedrick of Sodemann and Associates. The supplemental budget calls for spending $50,000 on patching and seal coating various village streets.
The supplemental budget reflects the addition of the $50,000 the village previously received from the Illinois Commerce Commission for the closing of the South Street crossing over the CSX railroad tracks.
The village is still anticipating receiving another $15,000, split jointly between the Illinois Department of Transportation and CSX Railroad.

She told the board her group will accept most recyclable items except hazardous household chemicals, paint and tires. Bailey added that her group is accepting the new CFL light bulbs to recycle because the light bulbs contain small amounts of mercury in them. Items for recycling can be dropped off at WITS collection site at 1507 N. Bowman Avenue on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
