Local roundup: Firefighters help stranded cat
STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News
DANVILLE — It was like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting as local firefighters helped rescue a cat from a tree on Monday.
Firefighters responded at 10:18 a.m. Monday to 317 N. Washington St. on an investigation call in regard to a little girl.
Assistant Chief John High said the girl was increasingly upset because a cat had been up in a nearby tree for 45 minutes. It’s unclear why the cat couldn’t get down.
Firefighters helped the girl, using a 35-foot ladder to retrieve the feline from its perch.
High said the fire department does not normally handle calls like this, leaving the animal calls to the Humane Society.
He called Monday’s kitty catch a “public service assistance” call.
