Clark found guilty of felony charge

No date set for sentencing hearing in case

BY CAROL ROEHM

DANVILLE A one-time NBA player from Danville was found guilty Friday of a Class 4 felony, and another trial involving Keon Clark was continued.

Judge Michael Clary issued a ruling Friday in the aggravated driving after suspension case involving Clark, 33.

Frank Young, Vermilion County State’s Attorney, said the ruling was for the charge that was heard in court on Thursday.

The felony charge — the third filed against Clark in 2007 — accused him of driving with a suspended driver’s license on March 6, 2007.

Following the testimony of a Vermilion County deputy and arguments from both sides on Thursday, Clary took all the information under advisement and delivered a verdict in the case as part of trial proceedings Friday.

Young said no date was set for a sentencing hearing.

The charge, a Class 4 felony, is punishable by a maximum of three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Clark also was slated for a bench trial Friday on the final aggravated driving after suspension charge filed against him last year.

But Young said that trial was continued.

“There was no new date set for today’s traffic case,” he said Friday.

Clark is currently serving 2½ years at Logan Correctional Center for a charge of driving after suspension from Champaign County.

On Wednesday, Clary allowed a motion for directed verdict by defense attorney Thomas Mellen, finding Clark not guilty on a charge of aggravated driving after suspension from March 17, 2007.
