Local authorities make large drug bust

Two men in custody in marijuana case

DANVILLE A investigation by Vermilion Metropolitan Enforcement Group resulted Friday in two arrests and the seizure of 30 pounds of high-quality cannabis.

The investigation was carried out in conjunction with the Danville Police Department and the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department.

According to VMEG Director Steve Guess, a shipment from the state of Washington was intercepted on its way to Danville. The cannabis it contained had a street value of approximately $150,000. Also seized in the investigation were two vehicles involved in the case.

Demetrius L. Moore, 35, of Danville, and Mario J. Earl, 30, of Tacoma, Wash., were arrested in conjunction with the investigation.

They were charged in Vermilion County Circuit Court with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and placed in custody at the Public Safety Building.
