Local Roundup: Businesses hit in alcohol sting

DANVILLE — Several businesses got an unexpected and costly visitor Tuesday evening.

Eight establishments that sell alcohol were hit during a sting by the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department as it checked for illegal sales to minors.

The action reached from one end of the county to the other as the businesses were cited for unlawful sale of alcohol. It took place in a 2 ½ hour stretch between 8 and 10: 30 p.m. and included south and west of Danville up through Rossville and Hoopeston.

Here’s a look at recent law enforcement calls:

Danville

Monday:

Battery at Townsend and Robinson streets.

Yard sign stolen in the 100 block of Edwards Street.

Cell phone stolen in the 400 block of North Oak Street.

Disorderly conduct in the 2700 block of Townway Street.

Disorderly conduct in the 400 block of West Franklin Street.

A man arrested for possession of cannabis at Danville Liquors, 1814 E. Main St.

Tuesday:

Trespassing in the 100 block of North State Street.

Domestic battery in the 900 block of Southmoor Street.

Wednesday:

Disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Kentucky Avenue.

A woman arrested for disorderly conduct in the 1900 block of West Williams Street.

A man arrested for battery in the 700 block of North Kimball Street.

Property damage and disorderly conduct in the 1200 block of Garden Drive.

Thursday:

A man arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in the 1200 block of North Griffin Street.

Vermilion County

Wednesday:

Trespassing in the first block of Carter Drive, Oakwood.

A man arrested for obstructing justice in the 200 block of East Hegeler Lane.

Theft and trespassing in the 200 block of Snyder Street, Rankin.

Vehicle window damaged along County Road 1800E, Alvin.

Domestic battery in the 22300 block of State Line Road, Bismarck.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

Tuesday, 7:33 p.m. – At Main and Crawford streets involving Laura Beal, 17, of Oakwood, and Donald Wagner, 27, of Georgetown. Beal was cited for failure to yield.

Wednesday, 4:49-5:34 p.m. — A medical call in the 1100 block of Saratoga Drive.

Wednesday, 5:50-5:58 p.m. — An alarm malfunction at 202 Grace St.

Wednesday, 6:52-7:06 p.m. — An investigation at 1616 Edgewood Drive.

Wednesday, 10:55-11:11 p.m. — A medical call in the 800 block of Lincoln Park Avenue.
