A local man is in custody following his arrest by law enforcement in Indiana on Thursday.
Paul Hinkle, 28, of Danville was arrested early Thursday after an Indiana Department of Natural Resources officer came across Hinkle and another man allegedly cooking meth.
According to a press release from the Indiana DNR, a Fountain County conservation officer was responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle when he observed two people making meth. The men fled the scene in a vehicle but shortly afterwards were involved in an accident.
The suspects again fled, this time on foot, prompting search dogs to be called out, as well as officers from Veedersburg, Covington, Vermillion County and Fountain County.
The search, the release indicates, was called off around midnight Wednesday, but Hinkle was later found and taken into custody on a charge of suspicion of manufacturing meth.
Hinkle has drug charges in Vermilion County Circuit Court dating back almost five years.
The other suspect remains at large.
