Fire destroys Indianola home

STAFF REPORT
Commercial-News

INDIANOLA A family lost their rural home in a large fire Monday night.

The fire was reported at about 8 p.m. Monday just a mile outside of Indianola at 11272 420 North Road.

Carroll Township Fire Protection District Chief Ron Hubbard said smoke was coming out of all the eaves with fames at the rear of the two-story home when firefighters arrived.

Flames were also in the stairwell of the home. Hubbard said the smoke forced fire fighters to vent the home before proceeding inside.

Firefighters from the Sidell, Ridge Farm and Georgetown fire protection districts were called in for mutual aid at the fire scene.

Preliminary observations point to a small bathroom near the stairwell of the home as a possible starting point for the blaze. A cause of the fire has not been determined, Hubbard said.

The home was a total loss. The family was not home at the time of the fire.
