The Village of Bismarck will hold its annual cleanup day on May 9, though the exact hours of the event have yet to be determined.
This year the Boy Scouts will help senior citizens and other citizens who need assistance by collecting their items. Anyone who needs assistance can call the village office for scheduling.
In other action, trustees:
Approved the purchase of an air compressor and saw horses from Menards of Danville not to exceed $175.
Approved an annual resolution for the Illinois Department of Transportation that sets procedures for closing Holloway Street for parades and other public uses.
Approved a resolution setting monthly meeting dates for calendar year 2009. The board usually meets the third Tuesday of every month.
Approved donations of $200 each to the Bismarck Lions Club for various events and to the Vermilion Ad-vantage scholarship fund.
Approved line-item transfers from the contingency fund for $500, the community sponsorship and donations fund for $400 and the police protection and public safety fund for $750, all of it transferred to the mosquito-abatement/chemicals and supplies fund. This will allow for the purchase of a 50-gallon drum of mosquito pes-ticide for $2,750.
