Rossville seeks to sell buildings

ROSSVILLE — The village board set the selling price on three village-owned buildings Monday night.

The selling price for the former village office building at 115 E. Attica St. was set at $7,500. The price for the old hardware store building at 117 E. Attica St. was set at $35,000 and the price for the building at 114-118 E. Attica St. was set at $7,500.

The buildings were stabilized last fall by the village, which included new roofing and masonry work. The board will advertise the buildings for sale by open-ended bids and will market the buildings locally as well as nationally.

In other board action, trustees:

-- Approved reimbursement agreements with owners of the Masengale and Ritter subdivisions. The reimbursement agreements will allow the village to pay the owners of the subdivisions for lots sold under the village’s one dollar building lot plan. The plan allows a potential homebuilder to pay $1 for a lot and after closing the village will pay the subdivision owner a pre-determined amount for the lot.

The purchaser will have one year to construct a new home or set a pre-approved modular home on the lot. In the event one year passes and no construction has started, ownership will revert to the village. Ninety-day options are available for the lots to allow for obtaining building estimates and getting financing approved. The 90-day option also allows a person to sell their exist-ing home prior to purchasing a lot.

-- Approved the Illinois Department of Transportation parade resolution. This resolution is approved annually and requires the village to notify IDOT when Chicago Street (Illinois Route 1) is closed for a parade and specifies the amount of time the road will be closed.

-- Amended the village curfew ordinance to allow village police to pick up school-aged children who are on public property during school hours. This is part of a county-wide effort to combat truancy.

-- Approved the payment of $6,200 to Leemon Enterprises of Hoopeston for sesquicentennial signs for the village.

-- Approved a Motor Fuel Tax fund resolution to stockpile street repair materials of $35,589.
