DANVILLE — Officials have confirmed the name of a man killed in a second fatal accident in the last three days.
Richard Shatto, 38, of Hoopeston was pronounced dead just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Carle Foundation Hospital, according to the Champaign Coroner’s Office.
Shatto was involved in a one-car accident at 12:11 a.m. Sunday on Illinois Route 9 west of Rankin in Vermilion County.
According to the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, Shatto was driving a 1997 Chevy Lumina westbound when the vehicle left the roadway, striking a guard rail before overturning in a field.
Shatto was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.
On Friday, Kevin Gay, 45, of Westville died after his motorcycle hit a curb in the 1800 block of South State Street in Westville, throwing him from the motorcycle.

Deceptive practices reported in the 100 block of Brooks Street, Oakwood.
Domestic disturbance in the 100 block of South Iroquois Street, Rankin.
Vehicle damaged at Under Caution sports bar, 2511 Georgetown Road.
Two rear tires damaged at the first block of Lynn Drive, Westville.
Domestic dispute reported at the 17000 block of Attica Road, Rossville.
