Warren G. Bell, 88, of Dublin, Texas, formerly of Catlin, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was born Oct. 3, 1920, in rural Mt. Carmel, Ill., to Harry Clinton Bell and Mabel Brines Bell. He grew up in the Catlin area and graduated from Catlin High School in 1938. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and made a career of flying planes for his country. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel. He married Mattie F. Cole in Detroit. They had two daughters, Joy Shepard and Donna McClintock. He later married LaRue Belyeu, who preceded him in death. They had two sons, Eli and Ryan Bell. Warren is survived by two sisters, Ferne Brown and Jackie Case. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy, and brothers, Robert and Jim.
Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Horrell Memorial Chapel in Dublin, Texas, with burial at Hansen Cemetery in Dublin. Any memorials may be given in his name to the Catlin Historical Museum of which he was a member.
