Marcel A. Tahon

WESTVILLE — Marcel A. Tahon, 69, of Westville, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Danville, a son of Marcel Pierre and Naoma Marige Tahon. He married Catherine M. Shaffer on March 5, 1960, in Georgetown. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Dawn Shepherd of Danville; two sisters, Marcella Copple and Flora Brooks, both of Danville; and a brother, James Tahon of Westville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Teresa Derra and Peri Tahon.

Mr. Tahon was a furnace operator for General Motors, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Westville Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enactments.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church. The Rev. Joe Laston will officiate. Rortvedt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
