ROUNDUP — Indiana hostage situation ends without incident

CLINTON, Ind. — A standoff with Indiana state and Vermillion County law enforcement ended without incident on Thursday.

State troopers and sheriff¡¦s deputies were called to White Construction offices at 11993 South State Route 63 in Clinton to a call of a drunk man with a weapon.

According to state police at District 10 in Terre Haute, officers encountered Rene Foli, 63, of Terre Haute inside one of the exterior office trailers. He refused to leave the trailer, threatening to harm himself and law enforcement on the scene.

Foli is an employee of White Construction and was despondent in regards to family issues, state police indicated.

After about three hours, Foli surrendered to officers without incident. He was taken to Vermillion County Jail on a charge of criminal recklessness.

ƒÞ New Year¡¦s Day was a difficult one for several vehicle owners in the City of Danville.

Police fielded at least seven reports of windows broken on vehicles throughout the city.

According to reports, broken windows were called in from the 1200 blocks of North Logan Avenue, Harmon Avenue and Grant Street; the 1600 block of North Franklin Street; and the parking lot of Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, 812 N. Logan Ave. Two calls were also made in the first block of Dodge Street.

Reports indicated a pellet gun as the possible means used to break the windows in a few of the incidents.

Aggravated battery reported at Giddings and English streets.

Four tires damaged on a vehicle in the first block of Southgate Drive, Tilton.

Wednesday:

A counterfeit $100 reported at County Market, 2 E. Main St.

Domestic battery in the 1800 block of Perrysville Road.

$10 in gasoline stolen at Mobil Super Pantry, 1212 N. Bowman Ave.

Domestic dispute at Oakwood Avenue and Lakewood Drive.

A woman arrested for retail theft in the 400 block of Holmes Street.

A man arrested for domestic battery in the first block of Pattie Drive, Oakwood.

A man arrested for possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of contraband in a penal institution at the Public Safety Building, 2 E. South St.

Domestic battery in the 900 block of Fowler Avenue.

A woman arrested for disorderly conduct at the Village Mall, 2917 N. Vermilion St.

A man arrested for aggravated battery at the Public Safety Building, 2 E. South St.

Property damage in t 1700 block of East Main Street.

Deceptive practice reported at Godfather¡¦s Pizza, 616 S. Bowman Ave.

A purse stolen in a vehicle burglary in the 100 block of Tennessee Avenue.

Two doors damaged in the 1800 block of East Voorhees Street.

A woman arrested for aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in the 200 block of North Bowman Avenue.

Thursday:

A man arrested for battery and domestic battery in the 300 block of Eastgate Drive.

Sexual assault reported in the 100 block of Jones Street, Catlin.

Battery in the 3500 block of East Artesian Street, Armstrong.

A man arrested for battery in the 200 block of West 12th Street, Georgetown.

Burglary along County Road 920E, Fairmount.

Damage to a vehicle in the first block of Bates Drive.

Aggravated discharge of a firearm reported in the 1100 block of Harmon Avenue.

Aggravated battery in the 1300 block of Michigan Avenue.

Truck damaged in the 100 block of West Harrison Street.

Trespassing in the 900 block of East Fairchild Street.

Purse stolen in the area of Logan Avenue and Main Street.

Burglary in the 500 block of North Collett Street.

Disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Spelter Avenue.

Vehicle damaged along County Road 900N, Georgetown.

A woman arrested for battery and possession of a controlled substance in the 200 block of East Main Street, Hoopeston.

A man arrested for disorderly conduct in the 300 block of North State Street, Westville.

Battery in the 100 block of Illinois Street.

Domestic battery in the 1600 block of Edgewood Drive.

Domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Vermilion Street, Indianola.

A 1990 GMC truck stolen at Oaklawn Inn, 1824 E. Main St.

Property damage in the 300 block of North Bowman Avenue.

Battery in the 100 block of Illinois Street.

Domestic battery in the 500 block of Sheridan Street.

Friday:

Trespassing in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Westville.

Property damage in the first block of Illinois Street.

Home invasion in the first block of South Griffin Street.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

Wednesday, 10:53 a.m. ¡X On Lynch Road at the CSX Railroad Crossing involving semi driver Andrew Barteck Jr., 71, of the 900 block of Martin Street. Barteck was cited for disobeying an approaching train signal.

Thursday, 4:47 p.m. ¡X At Gilbert and Williams streets involving Judy Olinger, 68, of the 100 block of Gun Club Road, and Julie Brandenburg, 31, of the 200 block of North North Street. Olinger was cited for failure to yield while Brandenburg was cited for driving without proof of insurance.
