Down memory lane
The recent article on Germantown took me down memory lane.
My husband and I were married in 1946 and bought a house on Norman Street in Germantown. Everything that was written about came back to me — several stores, the fire station, school. There was a place nearby that sold flour sacks for 10 cents. I made many things with them, including dish towels.
While we were there, our two children were born at what used to be St. Elizabeth Hospital. My husband worked at what used to be Lauhoff Grain Co. It was a very nice community.
We lived there seven years and then bought property in Tilton and have lived here ever since.
