Hearts and darts

DANVILLE — Here are a few good things readers noticed around the area recently.

Sherrie Ellis of Danville sends hearts for a spectacular display of Christmas light.

“During the holiday season, we often get bogged down by all the holiday tasks that need to be done. This year we decided to carve out some family time and check out a local home, known for its great holiday display.

“Thanks to Chuck and Rita Brooks for not disappointing us. We sat there for about a 30 minutes in awe witnessing their light and sound display.

“We found it so wonderfully appealing that we returned with other family members the next night to enjoy it. Both nights the roadway was full of cars pulled over, enjoying the show.

“Blessings to the Brooks family for lighting up our holiday.”

Mary K. Young of Covington, Ind., sends hearts “to the many friends and family who remembered me with cards, well-wishes and gifts in celebration of my 90th birthday in December.

“You all helped to make my day very special. Love and thanks to all!”

Alice Stonebraker of Covington, Ind., sends hearts to those helping her battle cancer.

“I would first like to apologize its taken me so long to write this.

“Thank you to Dr. Sekar, Dr. Bowen, Dr. Malhotra, Melissa Edington, the Polyclinic, Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Dr. Labayog, Dr. Soni and staff for all the great medical care I have received and continue to receive.

“Thank you to my children, my family, my Beef House family, Bob and Bonnie Wright, all of my co-workers, the Covington VFW and to all my many wonderful friends.

“Thank you to Rick and Sharon for opening your home to me during my surgery recovery.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am to those who sent up prayers, shared kind words and thoughts, provided me with monetary gifts, gift cards, flowers, and rides to and from my appointments.

“Each of you mean so much to me and again I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

Jo Ann Wilson, social worker for Georgetown Ridge Farm Unit 4 schools, sends hearts “to all individuals, church groups, service groups and businesses who helped to provide Christmas gifts for many of our students this season.

“You made many children very happy!”
