I am responding to the letter written by Linda Spicer in the Commercial-News on July 11 regarding the Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Ind.
I have lived across from it for more than 20 years, and the person who cares for its grounds does an impeccable job. To my knowledge, I’ve never heard of anyone stealing flowers, vandalism, etc.
If flowers, saddles are missing from a grave, it is possible they were not anchored securely enough to withstand the wind. I know this because they blow over in my yard almost daily.
Mount Hope Cemetery is one of the most well-maintained cemeteries in this area.
Drive through it and see for yourself.
