Safety not guaranteed
The issues with the dams can be compared to the automotive industry.
When a safety issue is discovered and replicated, a new design is made and implemented through a product recall. The manufacturer ensures the problem is corrected and no repeat failures will occur.
If the dams are modified or changed in any way, will the city of Danville and the state of Illinois ensure there will never be an accident, injury or fatality in the future? If not, what’s the point?
There is nothing wrong with installing permanent signs along the river with a clear safety message to boaters and fishermen.
