Ban same-sex marriage

ALVIN — Editor:

I have been reading and thinking about modern society and especially the new gay marriage bill. I should tell you I am mature and religious, a combination that will drive most of you away.

For a while I tried to talk to my political representatives but gave up finally when all of them made it clear they would only take suggestions through e-mail. Most old folks don’t want to do that. We remember actually talking to people.

I wanted to tell them if they voted for this bill or any other thing like it I would never again vote for them.

I have been reading the Bible for many years and it clearly is against same-sex relationships. To those of you who say the Bible is out of date and needs to be updated to catch up with modern society, God, who had the Bible written was the same then, and the same now and will be the same in the future.

Many of the men who founded this country were religious and quoted scripture often. The first 100 years were no doubt tough, but they were honest and good. The last 100 years we have watched our morals, values and virtues go down.

If you really want to change the Bible, maybe you should read Revelations 22:18-19. It basically says if you add to the book or take away from the book you will be sent to hell.

When it’s all over you will be voted on. One vote, one voter and no appeals. I hope to see you over there.
