Inspired by ‘Les Miserables’
Every now and then, you see something that makes you appreciate your town. This happened to my husband and me recently as we were blown away by the DLO Musical Theater/Danville Area Community College production of “Les Miserables.”
Everyone involved deserves kudos for not just handling this sophisticated show, but relishing its presentation. The camaraderie of the cast was obvious. The orchestra was right-on, playing the complex music almost continuously. The minimal scenery was artful, and worked well.
The singers all were excellent, with so many strong male voices. I was moved to tears by several of their solos. Good costumes, great sound effects, dramatic plot. If you missed this production, you missed a very good time. I am planning on reading Victor Hugo’s lengthy novel so I can know all the nuances not possible when presenting such a long story.
So I say, the Danville area’s “got talent!” Thank you all for an inspiring show.
