Henderson will help schools

DANVILLE — Editor:

Lon Henderson is a candidate for the Danville District 4118 Board of Education. Based upon his extensive educational background and experience in the schools, he is an outstanding choice for school board.

Lon received his Bachelor of Science degree and his master’s degree from Illinois State in education, with emphasis in special education. He served as a special education teacher for many years and subsequently served as director of special education for .Danville schools. As director, he evaluated staff; managed a multi-million dollar budget; and worked with community agencies to serve our children.

Lon has recruited staff for the Danville schools; coordinated a teacher mentoring program; and supervised student teachers from Eastern Illinois and the University of Illinois. His vast knowledge of the Danville schools and its educational programs make him an ideal candidate for School Board.

Lon is committed to seeing that every child in the school system is provided the best education possible. Moreover, Lon has always felt an obligation to contribute to the betterment of his community. He serves as vice president of the Danville Library Foundation Board; participates in AMBUCS and International Rotary; volunteers for Habitat for Humanity; is an active member of St. James United Methodist Church; and has been active in all phases of community theater.

On April 9, we urge you to vote for a highly qualified candidate who will provide the leadership and experience necessary to maintain a quality education for children in Danville. Vote for Lon Henderson.
