Stop the violence
What is going on in our community nowadays? What happened to the peace that was once put in place and the respect toward one another?
I know we’re living in a difficult time where jobs are scarce for those who do not have the necessary skills to work non-experienced positions, or felons who are limited to employment opportunities. I just do not see why violence is put in place of all of that.
Life is not easy for any of us. I am a working mom with seven children and four grandchildren. My life is wrapped around making a good future for them. If violence is a way to get some much-needed attention, rethink your choices.
My life was not always great growing up in a poverty-stricken environment, but I did not let it stop me from becoming successful. I am a college graduate and I put all of my efforts into rebuilding our community. Who says you have to be a celebrity to be successful? Success comes from hard work and determination, which leads to great leadership.
Break the cycle of pain, poverty, anger and hurt by simply living productively. The road will never be easy, but gets better with time. I want to send my deepest sympathy to the families who have lost their love ones to the violence that has been embedding our community.
