Bogart has skills for job

DANVILLE — Editor:

On Nov. 6, one of the races in which people will have a choice is the office of Vermilion County Recorder. I am voting for Nikki Bogart.

Her opponent is a lawyer who, according to his own ads, has stated that he is not planning on “wholly withdrawing from my law firm” and that he can do both jobs. He also has stated “I have partners that will take over other aspects of my practice that I can’t accomplish when I’m at the recorder’s office.”

The recorder’s office is a full-time position that requires full-time attention to protect and help the taxpayers of Vermilion County. It is not a part-time office. Also, the opponent is active in the Danville City Court, which meets in the afternoons, but he has been strangely quiet about what role he intends to play in it should he be elected.

Nikki Bogart, on the other hand, not only has the credentials and ability to be the recorder, she also has consistently stated that she will work the job full time.

She is a Danville native and is a product of the Danville public schools, including Danville Area Community College. She has an accounting degree from the University of Illinois and is financial director of the county. As such, Nikki has helped put together six consecutive budgets with no tax increase for the county portion of the tax levy.

For these reasons and more, please join me in voting for Nikki Bogart when casting your vote for Vermilion County Recorder on Nov. 6.
