Henderson’s resume a plus

DANVILLE — Editor:

I support Lon Henderson for Danville District 118 school board. I am not a business owner, an elected official or anybody of great importance. I am, however, a mom concerned about and involved in her children’s education. I want decisions made to be in the best interest of the students and the teachers. I believe that Mr. Henderson is a wise choice for school board.

He is retired from the district, spending his career first as a teacher and ultimately as special education director, and therefore has a sound knowledge of how the school system works, what doesn’t work and what could use some tweaking.

He was involved in budgeting, writing grants and the evaluation of programs. With the funding issues our district faces, I consider that to be a great asset.

He is active in our community and is always ready to listen to concerns and offer possible solutions.

More than all of this, he believes in District 118, he believes in the staff and the students. His own two children graduated from District 118, and one has gone on to become an English teacher and the other will be entering optometry school in the fall. They were well prepared by the education they received.

It is time for change on the school board, and I would like to see Lon Henderson be part of that change. Our teachers and students need someone who will look after their interests and concerns with a fresh but experienced perspective. Consider casting your vote on April 9 for Lon Henderson.
