I encourage you to cast your vote for Lon Henderson for the Danville District 118 School Board.
Before retiring, Lon’s career with District 118 spanned almost 25 years, as a teacher and as an administrator. He spent 8½ years as the special education director. That experience has provided him with some unique qualities to bring to the board.
While director, he was in charge of a multi-million dollar budget. He will be a fiscally responsible board member. He was an advocate for special needs students and their families, and a facilitator between those he served and the educators working with them. He will bring this same listening ear and good set of communication skills with him to the board. He had a strong and earnest commitment to all of Danville’s students, employees and the district itself, as evident by his long length of service. This commitment to outstanding education will continue as a board member.
I’ve worked with Lon, not only in the school setting, but also in the community. I’ve seen his leadership while serving together on the Danville Light Opera Board of Directors. I’ve worked with him on community service projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Kiwanis Peanut Days and at Saint James United Methodist Church. I’m aware of his work with the Danville Library Foundation Board.
As a retired educator and an active community member, Lon Henderson deserves your vote for Danville’s Board of Education.
