Adopt a pet from C.A.R.A.
I have volunteered at C.A.R.A. — Citizens for Animal Rescue and Adoption — in Tilton for more than two years.
C.A.R.A. is the only local no-kill shelter, so many people bring animals there. With all the animals that get brought in there are plenty to be adopted. There are a lot of cats that have been there for years, and many young kittens. There are also some sweet dogs. Young or old, cat or dog, they all want a home. Before an animal goes home they get all their shots and spayed or neutered.
If you’re not sure about adopting you could volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to get to know the animals. If you don’t want to clean cages or one of C.A.R.A.’s many free roam rooms, you could do laundry and dishes, or take out garbage and clean the floors. Christmas vacation is a great time to try volunteering, even if it is only for an hour or two.
Even if you can’t adopt or volunteer, you could donate. Paper towels, laundry detergent, toys, bowls, food, and blankets or towels all make great “gifts” that would be appreciated.
Christmas is a time for giving, so why not give a cat or dog a new home? You never know, you could make a lifelong friend. For more information check out C.A.R.A. on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ CaraRescue.
