Editor:

As this year comes to an end, I was reminiscing about the many festivals, car shows and fireworks we attended through the summer and fall.

The one that my family looks forward to the most is the Sweetcorn Festival of Hoopeston. It has been a family tradition to pack a picnic lunch and drive to Hoopeston on Labor Day weekend. I am so grateful to all of the people who put it together, especially the ones who cook the corn and those who butter and serve it. It is always delicious!

I want all of you people to know we really appreciate their hard work, and I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Phyllis Thomas
