The recent editorial requesting Danville residents to help spruce up their yards and streets to impress the many basketball tournament fans is good.
The discouraging Danville situation is the condition of many downtown buildings that are dilapidated with broken-out windows, doors and visual structure problems.
Take a few minutes and drive along Main Street and downtown and look at the deplorable conditions.
A few buildings have been painted various colors in years past, and they looked nice.
It’s true that downtown Danville is old, but there is no excuse to have buildings look the way they do.
Many of Danville’s high visibility buildings look uninviting and display a non-progressive attitude. A classic example is the Harwal Hotel.
I wonder how many potential business investors have been to Danville to check it out. Did they see risk or stable investment?
Don’t take my word for it. Go out and look.
