Here are some of the good things readers noticed around the area recently:
Wanda Blanton of Westville sends hearts for a good deed.
“I just wanted to let the rest of the readers know just how much the parents of the Westville High School varsity football team appreciate what the Oakwood team did for us.
“I am a parent of one of the senior football players who got to have their night on their home field recently. (Editor’s note: The game had been scheduled to be played at Oakwood High, but Westville had no more home games due to forfeits of opponents. Oakwood agreed to switch the game to Westville.)
“So we wanted to be sure that they know that we want to tell them thank you very much and we will forever remember the night that the Oakwood Comets gave us our night for our seniors to shine.
“Again, thank you, Oakwood.”
The Vermilion County Crimestoppers organization sends hearts to “the following businesses and individuals for donations for our Sept. 29 car show in downtown Danville at Temple Plaza.
“Hearts to all of the car owners who brought their cars down to the car show; Wright Motors for sponsoring the car show; Downtown Danville Inc., for The Kansas City Taste of Danville barbecue contest; city of Danville streets, parks and recreation departments; auxiliary police; city police; and downtown business owners,
“The following businesses donated prizes for us to give: Auto Mobile Diagnostics; Big R North; Kirchner Building Center; Advance Auto Parts; NAPA Auto Parts; Judy and Jonathon Myers at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Wealth Advisers; County Market North; and Fagan Auto Parts.
“Also, hearts to George Halls and his band the Freeloaders for playing music for us and to Ideal Casuals for the plaques. If we forgot anyone, we apologize.”
Russell and Lulu Belle Woodrow of Covington, Ind., send hearts “to family and friends.
“Just saying ‘thank you’ can never express our gratitude to our family and friends for making our summer so special.
“In May, Russell celebrated his 90th birthday. In June, we celebrated our 70th wedding anniversary.
“And in September, Lulu Belle celebrated her 90th birthday.
“We appreciate all the calls, the visits, the food and cards. Also, thank you to all who came to our party. You are all so special to us.
