After reading the article about the city talking about a $1 million shortage, I just had to write. Seems like every time we face a shortage the city wants to add another so-called tax on us and threaten to lay off firefighters if they don’t get it. Then in the same article, the spent another $175,000 for property in East Main Street so they can own the every thing from Gilbert Street to the civic center for possible development. What a crock.
These people need to realize they are hired by the people of this city and they need to quit wasting out tax dollars.
Oh, and this year, how about saving that $35,000 on planting flowers downtown? That’s about half the salary for one of our deserving firefighters to keep his or her job. Start looking at the dead weight in other departments that could be cut out before going after our fire department for cuts.
